A Stroll on the South Bank

I meant to share this terrific little place last weekend when we visited there but we were slightly inebriated as you would after a few glasses of wine and cocktails. We’d walked pass by this restaurant every time we visited Borough Market but there was either a long queue or we already had our lunch.

The restaurant is on a corner site just around the Borough Market, although it might lack in space but there is something about it that makes you feel like you are in Spain, having a few tapas and a jar of Sangria with friends. The food is simple yet extravagantly tasty, especially the sea bass with orange blossom honey and beetroot. One of the specialties is deep fried goats’ cheese served with honey, but none of us liked goat’s cheese so we didn’t get to taste the famous dish.

After lunch, we wandered to the South Bank and found a Greek restaurant/bar. We then had few more drinks before heading home.

ooooo, we bought these divine caramelised egg custard at Borough Market. They are not too sweet, just the right consistency. I have always been a huge fan on caramelised egg custard but had not found any in London until Jocelyn pointed out that they were highly recommended by a food blogger!

Pig-Out Session

Here comes the second May bank holiday - another pig-out session! The weekend was filled with work, food, and more food. We wanted to go to Bath but unfortunately the weather did not permit, it turned cold, windy and continuous irritating rains! On Saturday, we went to one of our favourite restaurants in Knightsbridge for some grubs. We only managed to take a snap of the delicious humus as we couldn’t wait to get stuck in.

We don’t call ourselves pigs for no reasons! After lunch, we went straight to the Fifth Floor restaurant to have afternoon tea. I know it doesn’t look particularly appetising, but it wasn't really that bad. At least I wolfed down a whole scone on my own; J had some finger sandwiches and a half scone only because she didn't have lunch with us. T was bewildered by my appetite; he only had a fruit tart, but minus the tart, just the fruits!

I slept very well over the weekend, which is something I longed for a while. I think I had almost 12 hours of sleep on Sunday!! I haven’t had a good sleep for quite some times and I have tried all different ways to sleep all the way through without waking up in the middle of the night but haven’t had any success. Therefore I was in a much stable and better mood this weekend - having had my beauty sleep eventually!
While there were still some works to do and I dread to think the morning meeting on Tuesday as there are just so much to do in the coming weeks.

I enjoyed and really appreciate this bank holiday. The three of us had a laugh together; ate like pigs collectively and I had some girly chats with dear sis.

The next bank holiday is in August and I am starting to count the days!

My First Blissful May Bank Holiday

Well, to be frank I don’t know whether it has been a blissful one or just a pure lazy weekend?! It was expected to be fruitful as I planned to do a bit of house hunting, birthday present shopping, exercising and watch Spiderman 3. And guess what? I did none of them! Umm… okay not quite, I managed to shop the present online so perhaps it was a bit of an achievement.

It was as relaxing as I hoped since I didn’t really want to do much apart from those things I mentioned above even though I didn’t get all of them done. However, I can’t remember the last time when I just lounged on the sofa; enjoying the sun and not having anything on my mind. Instead I just watched telly endlessly; reading and of course been eating as if there was no tomorrow. Yet, I do want to justify myself on the last point as I didn’t get to have proper lunches in the last two weeks mainly due to meeting schedules so I thought I'd treat myself a bit – perhaps a little bit too much because I can see my face is getting rounder! UNFORTUNATELY! I know I already have a very rounded one and this is definitely fairly noticeable….

It was also as slothful as I didn’t step out of the flat since Saturday and I blame the weather! Apart from it was an okay day yesterday (typical British weather, so I am sure there is no need to elaborate) and there were showers constantly throughout the day today before it brightened up towards late afternoon and by then I was already in my PJ again and all curled up in my very much-loved blanket on the sofa.

Ah, I very much look forward to the next bank holiday which is due in two weeks time! Please don’t get too green eyed, my friends!

oh and this is the 'croissant sofa' I came across. It sure looks like a comfy one to snuggle up especially in those cold winter evenings!

Strata's First BBQ

It was very kind of John for inviting us to his humble mansion for the first company BBQ given that we all live in our small tumble down houses. He really couldn't have picked a better day as it was an absolutely gorgeous day on Saturday!

Ruster was fashionably late as usual, only this time he was two and half hours late! Er..because he couldn’t decide which pair of jeans to wear, out of the 20 pairs he owns?! Though it was undoubtedly a very good party and it was so good that we couldn’t remember how many bottles of wine we had! Bear in mind, we all each turned up with a bottle and the boss bought two dozens PLUS 40 cans of beer AND two champagnes and according to John there were only three bottles left at the end of the evening!!! Ummm, that’s just put it this way; I had a splitting headache when I got home! T and I passed out the minute we got home and the next thing we knew - it was already 12 midnight and we were on the sofa....

Personally I really appreciate the fact that I could actually sit down and have casual chats with them on the weekends as some of you might know that the experience I had with my former employer was atrocious, let alone seeing them out of office hours!
The guys I work with now are bunch of decent ones but most importantly, we have a laugh.
I don't wake up in the morning dreading to go to work, instead I look forward to it.
