Harry 5 months

My cute Harry looking rather nervous

I know it sounds odd and I probably say this too often but how can my little man be 5 month old already? Not only I see lots of interesting developments this month, I honestly feel Harry was just a wee little thing in my arms and now he weighs a whopping 9kg!!!!!

Height - 65.5cm

Weight - 8.9kg

This photo melts my heart every single time I look at it

Eating - 5 milk feed a day. As I suffered from two severe mastitis the previous month, I decided to wean Harry off breast milk and it was not an easy decision. People are funny creatures, well, I think mothers are or at least I am. I was determined NOT to breastfeed baby Number 2 when I was pregnant and then when Harry was born, I said one month. Once I left confinement centre, I said three months as I had a nanny then and everything was just so much easier than first time round and boobs seemed fine, not blockage and milk flow was smooth and I somehow managed to stabilised just the right amount of milk for Harry. I then decided to breastfeed him for 6 months but I knew I just couldn't handle another mastitis as I wouldn't have the strength to look after two kids.

Look at me! I am sitting up!

Sleeping - I really could not ask for a better baby! Harry actually started to sleep through when he was two month old but after he caught the cold from Rayray, the pattern broke off. Apart from the occasional glitches and I mean really really occasionally, he is like a little clock. He soothes himself and just goes to sleep by GF routine.

Another play date with adorable MJ

Development -

  • Like Rayray, Harry started looking at us whenever we have food in hands or when we put things in our mouths.
  • Still can't roll over to his back from tummy... I guess it's because of his weight.
  • Loves starring at me when I do my makeup, drying my hair or just chatting to people.
  • discovered his right foot! Yes as he only ever manages to grab his right foot not the left one.

During one of my morning routines i.e. moisturising faces, putting my wall paint on! lol

Sleeping snug as a bug

Hilarious look and I just love it!

Although Harry isn't as smily as Rayray at this age, he does smile at me and is a much contented calm baby. My little Harry, you are just perfect for me and thank you for being such a patient baby with mummy when I continue to learn how to be a mummy of two. I try to give both Rayray and Harry equal attention. I know it is still very early days but I strive to learn.

Four month old Harry

This month, we went to Fukuoka and Thank god we had nanny with us! I suffered from a severe mastitis the second day we were there and it was just so painful and I honestly didn't think I could make it back to Taipei!

The flight to Fukuoka is only around two hours so Harry did pretty well and napped well in the bassinet but I never gotten around to take any photos....

Two very happy bambina

Height -  64.5cm

Weight - 8.1kg

Thank you Auntie Tiff for the rock cool onsie

Eating -  Harry feeds 5 times between 7am - 7pm and sleeps well at nap times and at night apart from when we were in Fukuoka. I think the reason could be that I don 't take him out often and he seems to be the type that gets nervous and tense easily in new environment. I know it is common for babies but Harry sees to be the more sensitive type.

This month we got our passport! Do you like it?

Developments -

  • Discovers his hands and I don't mean chewing or sucking them but he looks at them as if they were his toys!
  • Reaches out and grabs objects hence the banana teether!

Doesn't he look as if he was eating a real banana? lol

  • Harry has very strong neck control and I think it must be because he sleeps on his tummy so we don't really do tummy time as we did with Rayray.

Mummy, look at me kicking!!!

Rayray proactively goes to cuddle and kiss Harry and she reads him stories before she goes to school in the morning and the first thing she comes home from school is to say hi to Harry and spends a good few minutes playing with him. I am ever so grateful that Rayray has YET to display any behaviour that disliking her little brother. I say yet because I know 4 months is still early days but at the same time, I think Rayray has done really well considering she was our centre of attention for three years and was a jealousy persona and she now shows she truly enjoys being a big sister.

Very rare smile from Mr cool and even so it is done ever so gently

Harry's 'usual' cool look

Compared to Rayray, Harry is a far quieter, observant and patient baby! Sometimes I would forget I have a small baby around as he would sit happily in his chair and just looks at us! He is a placid baby that basically is a model GF baby!

Retry often asks to cuddle Harry and oh how I love my two beautiful babies!

Harry is the name! Happy 2 month birthday

After much deliberation, we finally settled on the name for bay Hao - Harry, Yukai (昱愷)! My little Harry seems to be a much calmer and quieter baby than Rayray but then I guess most second children at like this? He is also a much much better sleeper than Rayray! He would wake up around 4/5am after the late night feed and considering he is only two month old, I am very very happy with the progress as I still vividly remember how Rayray woke up at 2/3am till she was nearly weaned on solids.

Height - 56.3 cm

Weight - 6.2 kg

Eating - Feeds 6 times a day and still takes bottle well!!! It makes such a big difference for me as it means I can go out to do my own things and leave Harry with the nanny! Basically, I breastfeed him first thing and in the middle of the night only. He is pretty much a GF routine baby as unlike Rayray, I wake up at 7am/7.30am so he does down well for his MN.

Looking rather serious

One very proud sister!

I have to say that Rayray has been very very good in terms of accepting the fact that there is a baby in the family and she has to share daddy and mummy with her baby brother. She loves cuddling and kissing Harry and I try to get her to 'help' me whenever she can so she doesn't feel left out. I also try to spend as much time with her just as before and I really cannot complain as she has been brilliant!

Hello there, are you looking at me?

This month, every one of us in the family is ill and it includes poor little Harry. It started with Rayray's cough back in November/December and maybe because I was at confinement centre and her cough was constant so we didn't really think much of it until it got really really bad one night in the end of December. After that, we all have been coughing non-stop and it was just so heartbreaking to hear and see a two month old baby cough. Poor little love has just learnt how to breath properly and now he has blocked nose and serious cough. It turned out that Rayray has a mild chest infection and Harry caught that too hence my two babies were on antibiotics...my biggest fear. But thankfully, they both seems to have responded well to the meds and are now on the road to recovery.

Yes mummy! I am here!

Development -
  • Harry sleeps on his tummy so we don't really do tummy time with him. He can move his head from side-to-side smoothly and tracks us whenever we walk around the room.
  • He has started to dribble! (I don't recall Rayray started dribble so early?!)
  • Has learnt to express his feelings i.e. screams when he is 'bored' and cries when he is ummm bored!

One month old for my baby boy

Not only have I neglected my blog for an entire year before updating Rayray's third birthday, I didn't once blog about my second pregnancy. I never got around to blog about my first birthing story and this time around was a completely different experience. I had it 'easy' when I gave birth to Rayray as it probably took me an hour to pop her out whereas it took me 6 hours to have this boy out. Golly,  it was one gruesome experience. Baby Hao was born on 30 November 2014, weighing 3673g, measuring 52cm so yes he was indeed a big baby. Doc said my body was really suitable for babies weighing around 3000g.....  oh well... All I can say is two is more than enough after this and I am very lucky to have one beautiful girl and a cute boy.

My baby boy at Chung-Shan hospital

At the confinement centre

Height - 56.3cm

Weight - 5.2kg

Eating - Feeds 6 times a day as per CLB routine.

Sleeping - I almost forgot how much sleep newborns need! I remember it was such hard work to get Rayray to stay awake and how long we used to get her up for a feed. Baby Hao seems to be more 'easy-going' in the sense that he would wake up whenever it's time for a feed and doesn't seem to throw 'strops' when we wake him.

Development -
  • This time around, I took full advantage of confinement centre i.e. leaving baby Hao with the nurses whenever I could apart from feeding him! And even so, I still let them bottlefeed him sometimes as I didn't want what happened with Rayray happens to him again i.e. no bottles only mummy's boobies!
  • Baby Hao is a very quiet baby compared to Rayray as I remember Rayray started cooing at one month old whereas he spends most of the time sleeping and staring at me! lol

Peaceful time for mummy

hey mummy

I am still amazed by how alike baby Hao and Rayray look!

Happy 3rd Birthday my gorgeous!

My 'little' girl turns 3 years old today and I have also officially neglected my blog for an entire year!!!!! I HAVE attempted to update my blog for a number of times but somehow I just never gotten around to it.... Oh well, late better than never!

Rayray is a little chatter box at the age of 3 and adores EVERYTHING that's PEPPA PIG! She is one little mad monkey who is endearing, brave, stubborn and yet ever so affectionate. She is just my perfect baby.

Playing football and having a picnic in Hyde Park in June this year

She has turned into a little grown-up since we got back to London in May. It was amazing to see how kids pick up languages so quickly. Even though we speak English at home she couldn't speak in full sentences, but after two months of nursery (yes I sent her back to Zoom for two full days in June and July) and mingling with other kids and I guess just being in an English-speaking environment. She started constructing full sentences and came out with new vocabularies on daily basis! It was just wonderful to see how kiddies progress! Even though she 'forgot' her Chinese during the months we were in London, she quickly picked it up again when we got back to Taiwan in August. It probably took her a month or so to start speaking Chinese with Confidence.

She dropped her LTN completely by mid June and gosh it was as if we entered a new era! There was no need to push around the buggy anymore, and no more stop-eating-in-the-middle-of-a-meal because we had to stick the the routine business. Oh and not to mention the joy of travelling without a buggy! We walked everywhere or monkey could just hop on her scooter and whizz around! Therefore we didn't use the buggy not even for once since we got back. It was simply wonderful.

At Claie's wedding in May

On a hot hot summer's day

This was taken in Feb and her expression just cracks me up every time I see it

Loves being in her little chef's costume

We started potting train her back in December, I said started I meant with the help from school, she would wear training pants at school in the morning and 'sometimes' when I was brave enough I would let her go nappy free in the afternoon but if truth to be told, I wasn't brave most of the time! hahaha! T officially trained her in February when I went back to London for a week and I have to say he did an incredible job and although she still has odd accidents every now and then, I am very pleased that she was fully potty trained at 27 months. She rarely wees in her nappy at night during the summer but I still let her wear nappy at night time. On the eve of her third birthday, she told T herself that she was a big girl now and she didn't want to wear nappy anymore and that was it! No more nappy at nighttime!

Do we look alike?

At 36 months, Rayray weighs 15.5kg and is around 95cm tall. She loves going to her gymnastics, ballet and football classes and hopefully I will get her started on swimming and piano soon. I was never the type of mums that wanting kids to go to difference classes everyday especially Rayray started full day at school in the beginning of November just before baby number 2 arrives. However, Rayray seems to enjoy all the after school clubs plus she asks to do various classes herself.
